Logarithm Review Sheet

 

Use a calculator to find out the log of the following numbers:

 

1 x 10-5

1 x 10-6

1 x 10-7

 

2 x 10-5

2 x 10-6

3.16 x 10-6

Did you see the pattern?: 

     Did you notice that 9.5 x 10-5 was close to 4?  Why?  Because 10 x 10-5 is the same as 1 x 10-4.  9.5 x 10-5 is a BIGGER number than 1 x 10-5

     Did you notice that  all of the numbers in the same series (eg.  All of the numbers with a 2 in front of them) had the same decimal numbers?

     Did you notice that 3.16 gave you a value of 0.5?  (it’s the half-way point)
